Everyone is different, and just as there are different types of ADHD, there are different degrees of those types. Some are worse than others. Trying to get someone to understand ADHD can be hard, but until someone HAS walked in your shoes, they just can’t comprehend that the quality of your life suffers when you don’t take your meds.

I tried doing without them for 15 yrs and I only had control of a very small circle of my life, while the rest of it suffered. Now, I have my life back.

It’s rather sad to see people preying on others fears in that fashion, and scares me to think if people who did have ADHD would see them and disregard trying medication as a result .

Ironically I had a similar experience to you with Ritalin and Dexedrine. I’m just glad I didn’t give into the hysteria and actually asked to try something else!.

This helped me soo much thankyou! Im pretty sure I have the same two types of ADD as you, and Im going to the doctor today to see if Im able to get medication. Its kind of freaky because I am exactly like you, Im creative I play instruments and Im an artist, but its usually hard for me to finsih anything I start. Im not on medication right now, but hopefully I will be soon.
